4-STEPS TO SAVE INNOCENT LIVES BY REDUCING GUN AMERICA'S VIOLENCE

ONE ARGUEMENT: remove the murderers, not the guns! Sounds great - just tell me how we identify, then effectively rehabilitate the millions of people in America suffering from mental health issues ... and FAST, because reminder, people are DYING.

TRUTH: We can't rapidly heal millions of people struggling from mental health, it's impossible.

CURRENT REALITY: Today, our mental health care system is hyper broken. Are you open to decades of more bloodshed, while America attempts to build an epic mental health care program, when we don't even have the blueprints drawn?

NOW WHAT: How do we start saving our children NOW? Protect lives THIS YEAR!

1) We recognize we are NO LONGER LIVING IN 1791 and we need our constitution to reflect the current zeitgeist, to protect our lives in 2022.
2) We look at hard data from countries around the globe and acknowledge the direct correlation between stricter gun laws and FAR less gun violence.
3) We FINALLY DECIDE IT'S TIME TO VALUE PEOPLE OVER PROFIT.
4) WE CHANGE OUR GUNS LAWS, because while there mayyyy be other solutions, this is the only solution that's proven through data to be FAST and highly effective.

P.S. I'm sure we ALL want to save our children's lives, but in the event some can't agree on that, we might need to call on people like @melindafrenchgates @kimkardashian @rihannaofficilal @sarablakely @thisisbillgates @jeffbezos to pay off the people in power and buy back the weapons that are holding our families hostage in the land of the free, the home of the brave.

Would you ever just eat a big bowl of sugar for breakfast? Hard no on that one? Well friends, that’s pretty much what so many American families eat (especially our poor unsuspecting kiddos) because the American breakfast STORY we’ve been told & SOLD is that the first meal of the day should be sweet and filled with the crappiest kind of carbohydrates.

Boxed breakfast cereal, bagels, toast, pancakes, waffles, donuts, are all refined carbohydrates that lack the critical nutrients we desperately need to BE WELL & THRIVE! Our bodies easily turn refined carbs into sugar, that turns to fat & harms our gut health, and makes for crabby kids & adults when we crash!

NEWS 📰 FLASH: No one needs to carbo-load daily to SIT … at a desk, at work, at school, in the car, etc.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: If you're not HEALTHY, in your mind, body, soul and GUT, it's nearly impossible to FEEL GOOD and BE HAPPY—two of our greatest human desires. The ironic thing is, COOKING REAL, WHOLE, NOURISHING FOOD is a critical component of protecting our health so we can FEEL GOOD and HAPPY. Yet so many Americans are "too busy" and deem cooking as an unimportant, optional activity. Instead 70% of what most Americans eat today is processed "food" that often doesn't even meet the definition of REAL FOOD, which must be NUTRITIOUS in nature. And only a measly 10% of Americans eat enough fruit and vegetables! SPOILER ALERT: It's not our fault. Historical events led us down this path to processed food pastures, where it's very hard to see the apples and lettuce through the endless rows of processed products. Let's change this - starting at home, by learning to reframe healthful cooking as a critical part of self-care and family-care.

WILDLY DELICIOUS ROASTED MINI SWEET PEPPERS - Thes

WILDLY DELICIOUS ROASTED MINI SWEET PEPPERS - These little peppers are oddly addicting and the easiest, sweetest, healthiest, juiciest snack, appetizer or side dish ever. I make them at least twice a week and once you pop, you cannot stop! PROMISE.

Try this recipe and reframe cooking as a valuable tool for self-care instead of a chore. Perspective is everything.   Ingredients
1 16oz bag Mini Sweet Peppers organic if available
1-2 Tablespoons olive oil OR avocado oil OR oil of choice preferably cold-pressed and unrefined
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt OR sea salt optional
sprinkle black pepper optional & prefer freshly ground
1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions optional

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 425° F
2. Rinse peppers under hot water – you can rinse them right in the bag! Let drain.
3. Pour the peppers onto baking sheet in even layer. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper (if using). With clean hands, toss peppers around in the oil and seasoning to coat evenly. Sprinkle green onions over the top of your peppers (if using). That's it! No cutting them up, nothing!
4. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or just until the peppers begin to lightly brown and blister. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before popping your first pepper!
5. Ideally these sweet peppers are best served freshly roasted, but you can serve them at room temperature or cold as well. Store refrigerated for 2-3 days tightly covered.

INTRODUCING BROWN BUTTER CRUNCH CAKE-BREAD starring Dr. Pickles and Miss Kale Yeah. SOUND ON 🔈It’s paleo friendly, gluten-free + packs protein. But is it cake or is it bread?!   INGREDIENTS (about 8-10 slices) 1/4 cup salted butter 1 cup + 3 Tablespoons Bob's Red Mill Paleo Baking Flour 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 3 Tablespoons coconut sugar 2 Tablespoons maple syrup 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 2 eggs * 1/2 cup plant-based milk of choice  FOR CRUNCH TOPPING  2 Tablespoons uncooked buckwheat groats 2 Tablespoons sunflower seeds, shelled 1 Tablespoons coconut sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon kosher or sea salt  INSTRUCTIONS PREP Preheat oven to 350° F. Oil or line a loaf pan.
1. BROWN THE BUTTER Cut the butter into 4 even squares. Place the butter into a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring often until white foamy bubbles form. Over low heat, continue stirring just until golden brown - 3-5 minutes. Pour into a small bowl to stop the cooking and let cool.   2. MIX DRY In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.  3. MIX WET In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or using a medium bowl with handheld electric mixer or whisk) mix together brown butter and coconut sugar, maple syrup and vanilla until combined. Add eggs and mix until creamy. Slowly add milk to batter, and mix until well combined.  4. MIX WET+DRY: Add paleo flour mixture to batter. Mix until just combined.   4. TOP AND BAKE In small bowl, mix all topping ingredients together. Pour batter loaf pan. Sprinkled with seed topping. Bake for 30 minutes. Let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing & relishing the first piece! ***Additional recipe notes on blog***

BEST GOLDEN BUCKWHEAT GRANOLA Granola is great, but usually high in sugar and even higher in calories for a measly 1/4 cup serving. WHO wants to eat just 1/4 cup of granola?! My Golden Buckwheat Granola is lower in sugar and calories with a higher crunchy crunch flavor factor. Try it ASAP, try out new fun ingredients like buckwheat groats + mulberries and breakfast better all weekend long. Tag #3rdcoastkitchen when you make it!

Ingredients
2 cups old fashioned rolled oats I use Bob's Red Mill gluten free
1 1/2 cups buckwheat groats
3/4 cup shelled pumpkin seeds or pepitas sub shelled sunflower seeds or nuts of choice
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon I like ceylon cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt
1/3 cup coconut oil, melted sub olive oil if preferred
1/3 cup maple syrup OR agave
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract optional or sub 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup dried white mulberries (these add the best crunch!) sub goji berries OR golden berries OR coconut

Instructions
PREP: Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or line with a silicone baking mat (caring for the planet – YAY you!)

MIX DRY INGREDIENTS: In large bowl, mix together oats, buckwheat, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, turmeric, and salt. Set aside.

MIX WET INGREDIENTS: Place coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla in small saucepan. Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat, whisking often to prevent sugar from burning. Simmer for about two minutes, until mixture is fully combined. Remove from heat.

TOSS TO COAT: Pour the warm coconut oil mixture over the oat mixture and toss to evenly coat all the oats, groats and seeds, using a spatula or large wooden spoon.

BAKE: Spread the granola out evenly on your baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, then sprinkle mulberries over the granola and give it all a good stir to ensure everything browns evenly. Bake for another 10 minutes. Cool & eat some before everyone else does!

Posting this poignant passage for anyone who needs to hear these wise words by @briannawiest … I certainly needed to read & heed this truth. I have big, bold, career dreams for 2022, but achieving them will mean drastically changing my day-to-day habits & slower way of living that emerged while “moming” nearly full time since Stella’s birth. It will mean spending less time with my family while I birth a business instead of a child 😉 It will mean early mornings and late nights, to make sure I still have time for plenty of moming while Stella’s awake! It might mean feeling more isolated at points… when I’m already feeling isolated living through a pandemic. It will mean leaving behind the hyper-predicable, too comfortable, play-it-safe life I have been living for the past two years to embark upon something with an outcome unknown. I will need to embrace feeling uncomfortable to GROW into this new season, and that will be HARD, but not as hard as remaining stagnant & never living up to my full potential. That would be unbearable.
